There’s a new book out. It’s entitled “The Dumbest Generation: How the Digital Age Stupefies Young Americans and Jeopardizes Our Future.”
In the book, author Mark Bauerlein decries the informality of chat, the popularity of facebook, spellcheck, sitcoms, pop music, and Grand Theft Auto.
“The ignorance (of these young people) is hard to believe,” he wails.
No doubt Mark would prefer young people to be more like the god fearing luddites who gave us mensa master George Bush and the Iraq war. But he should know better. Since the beginning of time old people have been blaming the young for problems they themselves created.
He’s right about one thing though. This is the digital age. Knowledge is in electronic media. No one reads books anymore. And with luck no one will read his. So instead, let’s take a look at a thought provoking, yet oddly disturbing site called “Man Babies.”
Watch it! We're updating the site. Until we're ready there's always Koolaid.
